An elderly woman has been killed in a single-vehicle accident near a railway line in North Queensland.

A black Toyota Kluger was travelling on the Bruce Hwy near Donohues Rd, Farleigh, 11km north-west of Mackay, when it lost control before coming to rest on the railway tracks.

A 73-year-old Mackay woman later died in Mackay Hospital.

Two children in the vehicle were also hospitalised with minor injuries.
